- Sporting Regulations – General
1.1 Title and Jurisdiction
The 2012 ASEMC Speed Championship is organised and administered by the Association of South Eastern Motor Clubs, in accordance with the general regulations of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association. (Incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting code of the FIA) and these Championship Regulations.

Status: National ‘B’ MSA Championship Grade.

1.3) Competitor Eligibility
Entrants must be fully paid up valid membership card holding members of the ASEMC member club; be registered for the Championship and be in possession of a valid entrant licence.
1.3.2 Drivers and Entrant/Drivers must be fully paid up valid membership card holding members of the ASEMC member club; be registered for the Championship and be in possession of a current MSA National ‘B’ Speed Licence, as a minimum.
1.3.3 All necessary documentation must be presented for checking at all rounds of the Championship when signing on.
1.4) Registration
1.4.1 All entrants in the 2012 ASEMC Speed Championship will be sent a set of regulations and a registration form. Upon registering, each entrant will be sent a Championship registration card and Championship stickers.
1.4.2 The ASEMC Speed Championship registration fee is £10.00.
1.4.3 The closing date to registering is October 20 2012.
1.5) Championship Rounds
A competitors best 12 scores will count towards their final total. A list of Championship rounds and applicable organising club is attached
1.6.1) Points Scoring
Points will be awarded as follows irrespective of numbers in class: 1st 15 points, 2nd 13 points, 3rd 11 points, 4th 9 points, 5th 7 points, 6th and below 5 points. Points scored in any class or category may not be transferred to any other class or category. Points counting towards the Championship will only be credited to contenders once they have registered. As an incentive, any registered contender in the 2012 ASEMC Speed Championship can earn 12 points as part of his/her total score by marshalling at any one of the Championship events. Event organisers are free to sub-divide or amalgamate classes according to the number of entries. Championship points will be awarded in these classes or those used on the day.
1.6.2 Ties. These will be resolved by awarding the higher position to the contender who has beaten the greatest number of contenders in their class in the events counting towards the Championship. Contenders must compete in the vehicle and class stated on their registration form in order to score points. Contenders wishing to compete in more than one vehicle must pay the registration fee for that vehicle before the start of the applicable event. Any change of class or vehicle during the Championship run, must be notified to the Championship Co-ordinator, unless classes are amalgamated.
1.6.3 Championship points appeal will be resolved as per the 2012 MSA Year Book.
1.7) Awards
1.7.1 Awards will be presented as follows: Overall Champion – A Championship trophy;
Category Winners – A Trophy; Class Winners – A Trophy. The ‘Masters Trophy’ will be presented to the highest point scoring contender over the age of 50 and not winning any other award.
1.7.2 Additional awards may be presented or introduced during 2012 subject to sufficient registered contenders.

2.1 Rounds will be in accordance with section C of the 2012 MSA Year Book and the 2012 ASEMC Speed Championship.
2.2 Championship. In accordance with section C of the 2012 MSA Year Book and the 2012 ASEMC Speed Championship.
- Technical Regulations
3.1 Eligible Vehicles. The following vehicles are eligible to take part in the Championship. Classes and Categories will be as follows:
Category ‘A’ Road-Going Series/Specialist Production Cars
Category ‘B’ Modified Series/Specialist Production Cars
Category ‘C’ Sports Libre Cars
Category ‘D’ Racing Cars
Classes will be as follows:
Category ‘A’ Road-Going Series Production Cars (S.10.10.1) and Road Going Specialist Production Cars (S.10.10.2), excluding cars in Appendix 1
Class A1 - Standard Production Cars up to 1600cc, two wheel drive and list 1a tyres only.
Class A2 - Standard Production Cars 1601cc to 2000cc two wheel drive and list 1a tyres only.
(See Appendix 2 for specification of ‘standard’)
Class A3 - Up to 1400cc 2 wheel drive and list 1a or 1b tyres.
Class A4 - Cars 1401cc to 2000cc 2 wheel drive and list 1a or 1b tyres.
Class A5 - Cars over 2000cc excluding four wheel drive and list 1a or 1b tyres.
Class A6 – Four wheel drive cars any capacity and list 1a or 1 b tyres.
Road-Going kit type and replica Cars. (Examples are included in Appendix 1)
Class A7 - Cars up to 1700cc list 1a or 1b tyres.
Class A8 – Cars over 1700cc list 1a or 1b tyres.
Appendix 1 cars (examples) are:
Caterham, Westfield, Sylva, Fisher, Lotus 7, Elise, Exige and 340R, Vauxhall 220, X-Bow
and similar types and all derivatives of these cars.
Category B: Modified Limited Production Cars (S10.10.3) and Modified Specialist Production Cars (S.10.10.4). This category excludes Group B Sports cars, GT1 Sports Cars and World Rally Cars and all motor-cycled engined cars.
Class B9 Cars up to 1400cc
Class B10 Cars over 1400cc and up to 2000cc
Class B11 Cars over 2000cc
Category C: Sports Libre Cars (S.10.10.6)
This Category includes Special Saloons, Hillclimb Super-Sports Chassis Cars, Sports Racing Cars, Group B Sports Cars, GT1 Sports Cars and World Rally Cars.
Class C12 Cars up to 1800cc and motor-cycle engined cars up to 1100cc
Class C13 Cars over 1800cc and motor-cycle engined cars over 1100cc
Category D: Racing Cars (S10.10.7)
Class D14 Racing Cars up to 1100cc
Class D15 Racing Cars over 1100c
Class D16 Formula Ford Racing Cars (See appendix 3 for specification)
Appendix 2 ‘Standard Cars’ are those defined by Road-Going Series Production in the MSA 2012 Blue Book (S11.1.1) but restricted to 2 wheel drive cars using list 1a tyres. Cars are to be to manufacturers’ original specification, with modifications limited to safety items (see applicable sections of S10), along with replacement wheels and aftermarket exhausts (not manifold); no other modifications (body, brakes suspension, transmission or engine etc) will be permitted (S10.10 modified). The use of ‘trade Plates’ is not permitted.
Appendix 3 Formula Ford Racing Cars using Kent, Zetec, or Duratec engines.
All vehicles must comply with the appropriate Formula Ford Technical Regulations approved by the MSA for that particular car and year of production.
Notes for information:
Cars using forced induction. These cars will be classified as having an engine capacity increase of 40%. Those using diesel fuel will have a reduction of 30%. Example: a 2000cc turbo diesel will be considered to be the equivalent of a 1960cc normally aspirated petrol engine. Cars with a rotary engine will be subject to a 50% increase in capacity.
Licences. Please note: Any driver competing in a Racing or Sports Libre car, manufactured after 1960 of more than 2000cc (or 1428cc if forced induction), must hold a Speed National ’A’ (open) or Race National ‘A’ Licence, unless the car is currently licensed for use on the public highway and competes in a road legal condition. (see MSA rule H.16.11.1 of the 2012 MSA Year Book).
Safety Requirements. All vehicles must comply with MSA regulations as per the 2012 MSA Year Book section J.5.1 to J5.20.13 and sections S.10 to S.15.2.1, being specific regulations for Sprints and Hillclimbs and relevant sections of K as referred to in section ‘S’.
Log Books. Please note that MSA Competition Car Log Books will be required for all hillclimb and sprint cars, unless the car is currently taxed and insured for use on the public highway and competing at the event in a road-going class. (see S.9.1.7 of the 2012 MSA Year Book).
